You work hard, do cardio, layer strength training in on the regular, and get a good dose of playtime with friends and family. You’re kicking ass like never before. You FEEL like you’re 22, but, you’re sagging in new places, and no matter how hard you workout – things feel less attainable.

If only you could stop the clock and approach aging gracefully and head-on, like you do most other things in your life. What if you could?Below are some of our favorite anti-aging biohacks for your skin, brain, and body. Slow the hands of time so you can approach getting older the Bulletproof Labs way:

Collagen: Your body produces a protein found in your skin and connective tissues, called collagen, that provides elasticity. As you age, collagen production decreases, causing wrinkles. If you want to put your best face forward, try daily supplementation with grass-fed collagen in water, healthy shakes, or a hot beverage.

Cryotherapy:  Our popular targeted CryoFacial is another way to put the freeze on aging, helping reduce inflammation and while increasing collagen. At home, you can rub an ice cube on your face before going to bed. To take it up a notch, get the most benefit from whole body cryotherapy by spending a few minutes in the -250°F Cryochamber at Bulletproof Labs.

DIY At-Home: Icing the skin – Start off with clean skin. You can ice in the morning or at night. Hold the ice cube and rub directly on your face in small circular motions all over for several minutes (at least 2-3 minutes), holding and concentrating on areas that are in need the most tightening or inflammation reduction, although skip the delicate eye area. A handkerchief can also be used to wrap the ice cubes for more sensitive skin. Note: Skip the ice if you have rosacea or broken capillaries.

Mitochondria – the powerhouse of your cells.

Beyond your looks, aging begins in your cells — your mitochondria. To keep these little guys doing their job, which helps keep your mind on point, try this simple hack. Give your brain the fuel it needs to boost your mitochondria with Brain Octane, a supplement distilled from 100% pure coconut oil. You can mix with your collagen in water or your morning hot beverage. Brain Octane delivers caprylic fatty acids to our body that can improve our brain function, are antimicrobial, and help with burning fat. It has significant benefits that can improve cognitive energy, level of concentration, focus, and keep your brain feeling uncluttered which is great for those times during your ketogenic diet where you need a boost. *Dual use: You can also apply it topically to refresh, smooth and soften your skin.

Limiting your calorie intake can help with brain aging and reduce the risk of neurodegenerative disease like Alzheimer’s. Intermittent fasting is a great choice here and easier to manage than long term caloric restriction. To work this into your schedule, you can try a few days where all the food you consume in one day occurs in about an 8-hour window. Basically, if your first meal of the day is at 10 AM, then your last meal of the day would be no later than 6 PM. Then, you can move forward by adding intermittent fasting 1-2 days every week based on when this fits with your busy schedule.

Other studies have found that fasting mice have higher levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which is a protein that prevents neurons from dying. If you have low levels of BDNF, you have a higher rate of getting Alzheimer’s disease and other degenerative brain diseases.

Get moving with HIIT. High-Intensity Interval Training workouts: 7 to 45-minute cardio interval routines you do a few times a week show improvements in circulation, heart function, and lung health. Studies show an increase in mitochondrial capacity — a marker of the cell’s ability to produce energy as well as mitochondrial function. These HIIT trainings also boost brain function and brighten your mood with much welcomed endorphins.
